Walk-n-Roll unites the SMA community in the largest event of its kind, driving powerful change for everyone impacted by SMA. Over the last 20 years, we’ve raised more than $20 million to advance Cure SMA’s mission and make a meaningful impact.

Cure SMA accelerates progress for individuals with SMA through our comprehensive research, advocacy, care, and support initiatives. Together, we’re achieving the next breakthroughs in SMA and building a hopeful tomorrow for those living with SMA. 

Our mission is to drive research for treatments and a cure for SMA, and to support and empower everyone impacted by SMA today. 

Our Impact

  • ​There are 3 FDA-approved treatments for SMA and 5 therapies in late-stage clinical development. 
  • Cure SMA has invested over $90 million dollars in research to development SMA treatment and therapies. 
  • Since January 2024, all 50 states are now screening for SMA at birth resulting in quicker diagnoses and treatment options. 
  • 300+ care packages are sent annually to newly diagnosed families & adults with SMA. 
  • Each year Cure SMA hosts the largest SMA conference in the world. 
  • The Cure SMA Clinical Data Registry collected data from 1,000+ participants to drive healthcare improvements for people living with SMA. 

There has been significant progress made to advance the mission of Cure SMA, but we still have work to do. We will not stop until we have a cure.
